1960 Audio Supplement to Monticello,
The 1960 Monticello came out in
print as usual, but there was a surprise that
came along with it. The Sights of '60 was
the yearbook's theme. "Well, what about the
sounds?" someone asked at an editorial meeting.
The Monticello supplied the sights. This
recording, sent to TJHS.com by an alum, shared
the sounds of the year. You'll be struck by the
sound bites of the school song played by the
band, the fight song at a pep rally, the archaic
recording, and the unabashed use of prayer and
mention of God. This is truly a time capsule
treasure.
