For years, we, at TJHS.com, have dreamed about having a
database-driven site where each Jefferson alum could maintain their own personal
profile via a password protected scheme. We wanted to supply reunion organizers
with contact lists (with the permission of each individual) so that they could
contact as many classmates as possible when planning an event. But, alas, it is
just too expensive for us to undertake as a labor of love (the way we have
maintained the site since 1998).
We want to ask our public if they would be willing to support
the growth of TJHS.com with donations of as low as $10 and as high as
$30. The amount of money we are able to garner will dictate the types of
features we will be able to add.
Who Benefits Directly?
Don Moore, Class of 1969, started TJHS.com in 1998 as a site to
promote the Class of ' 69's 30th reunion. Countless e-mails from other classes
and even Thomas Jefferson High Schools across the nation prompted him to begin
posting information for other classes. Very little money has come in through the
site in the form of payment for "Reunion Pages," an
event announcement/information update combination that sends alumni info
directly to the reunion organizer.
Plans are to become a membership site dedicated solely to TJHS
San Antonio. Here are our objectives:
"Build a two-level (Pony and Mustang) membership site where
Jefferson graduates and students have the resources for community-building and
reunion planning using self-maintained, password-protected personal profiles,
blind e-mail contact, current and past school and class news and photographs,
reunion announcements and reunion wrap-up features, and class mailing lists.
Adjunct resources, such as reunion planning guides, event facilities, catering
services, and reunion-planning agencies will be offered through sponsored
advertising or affiliate marketing links."
A strict privacy policy has been in effect since TJHS.com's
inception. No one's information is used for purposes other than TJHS.com-related
contact. No one's information is given to any other party, and only the
information designated by the user as public is exposed in any way through the
site.
Phase I -- Alumni Registry
When Phase I, the Alumni Registry, is in place,
all members will be able to have a "view-only" look at
information for any member of
any class that is made public by permission. Here is a list of
the information to be gathered in the Alumni Registry:

Phase II -- Contacts
Phase II will include the ability to
blind e-mail alumni (no one's e-mail address is exposed
to anyone). At this point, a low, yearly membership fee
($10-20) will be charged for Mustang members, who will
have access to all site features -- the first of which
is the blind e-mail feature. At this
juncture, dwmCommunications will be incorporated and
begin to pay Don Moore a salary to maintain the site.
All other monies will go to expanding and improving the
site features.
